(SALT LAKE CITY) June 24, 2022 Reading Horizons, a leading provider of tech-enabled foundational reading instruction for K-12 schools and districts, has won or been chosen as a finalist of many esteemed awards during the 2021-2022 school year. Reading Horizons Discovery® won two awards: the Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence Best of 2021 for primary education and the Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence Back to School winner for primary education.

Reading Horizons Discovery has also been honored as a finalist for three awards, including:

  • 2022 EdTech Awards Cool Tool Finalist for literacy/reading solution;
  • 2022 CODiE awards finalist for Best English Language Arts Instructional Solution for Grades PK-8; and
  • Honorable mention for the 2022 SmartBrief Readers’ Choice Awards.

“We are honored to be recognized by our peers in education, and especially by the teachers who are using our science-based reading program to help students attain reading proficiency by the end of 3rd grade,” said Stacy Hurst, Chief Academic Officer of Reading Horizons.

While 95% of third graders nationwide are cognitively capable of reading proficiently, data shows that 64% are not reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. Three out of four of these learners will never catch up. Reading Horizons has made it their mission to fill the need for quality, science-based programs to help students achieve reading proficiency in the formative and critical K–3 years.

“The mission of Reading Horizons is to equip teachers to use a structured literacy approach to boost reading proficiency and captivate students,” said Tyson Smith, the CEO of Reading Horizons. “We would like to thank our community of teachers, administrators, and district leaders who have shown how our fully integrated instructional materials, software, and professional learning are effective in helping students to achieve reading mastery.”
