Very few school districts were prepared for virtual learning at the scale we experienced last year. Many districts had laid some groundwork:
Over the last few years, the number of districtwide 1:1 initiatives has more than doubled, but still fewer than half of the districts had actually met that goal when the pandemic hit. Like many districts, Chesapeake Public Schools in Virginia was delivering fully virtual learning while building the infrastructure necessary to manage the technology. The learning curve was steep.
