Reading Horizons CEO Stacy Hurst and Educational Specialist Laura Axtell are helping lead the company toward a simple goal – creating multisensory curriculum to increase reading skills and ensure quality reading education.

The duo joined host Daniel Litwin to outline how the company is working to do exactly that via curriculum programs that emphasize the “science of reading,” which leverages decades of scientific data to outline how the brain best learns to read.

“The science of reading is a body of knowledge,” Hurst said. “People are surprised to know that reading is actually one of the most researched topics in education. We have easily over 40 years of high-quality, scientific data that tells us the best approaches to teaching students how to read. … It’s a convergence of science from a lot of different areas.”

Unfortunately, Hurst said, that science doesn’t always make it to the front lines.
