Keep Them Learning This Summer With Brain Chase

Summer is in full swing for almost everyone and for those who are not quite done yet, it’s just around the corner. However, just because school is out, doesn’t mean I want to stop my kids from learning. We want to avoid summer brain drain at all costs, but that can be tough with kids who just got out of school. They don’t want to jump into boring lessons, but I want them to keep learning so we can hit a big snag..until now! I’ve been sharing all about Brain Chase over the last few weeks and wanted to give you one final push to get your child registered before it’s too late.

Thanks to Brain Chase my kids will get the learning I want them to have, but in a way they will have fun and be pushed to move forward in their learning! And your kids can join in too!

What is Brain Chase?

  • An adventure that will help them learn through the summer, and have fun while doing it
  • A massive global treasure hunt that will end with one person receiving a $10,000 scholarship and getting a real treasure.
  • The hunt is powered by 5 weeks of math, reading, and writing challenges

The fun starts on June 22, 2015, where kids will do online work through the Brain Chase. To keep kids learning they have partnered with curriculum partners like Khan Academy and myON for five weeks. Because every child is different, each child will customize the academics based on the individual childs needs. Through the myOn reading platform, kids get to choose the books that fit their reading needs (or if a child is a beginner reader they can have the books read to them). As the kids complete their work, they unlock webisodes with hidden puzzles and clues to help them find the buried treasure. At the end of the learning adventure one child will go on a real life treasure hunt to find the Sunstone of Cortes

I know, a lot of kids are busy little bees during the summer, but with Brain Chase they only have to do 5 hours of learning a week, that’s easy to fit into their schedules. Because it’s an online challenge you will need a high-speed internet connection and the latest version of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari. Most of the assignments can actually be done on a tablet but it is recommended to have a desktop or laptop for writing assignments.

If you have a few days where you get busy, that’s okay. Brain Chase allows kids to catch up on missed work from previous weeks, but to keep it fair they can not work ahead. You can learn more about the flexibility of the program through this post on the Brain Chase blog.

Brain Chase wants to encourage learning through summer, that if you put you are referred by your teacher they will be rewarded too. Teachers who refer any students to Brain Chase will receive a $15 Staples gift card, for each student that registers. Simply enter that teacher’s name and school name at registration. The referral rewards can add up to substantial funding for classroom supplies.
