Eduplanet21 (Mechanicsburg, PA) in April will roll out version 5.0 of its integrated curriculum design and management tools. New features include a macro curriculum blueprint for establishing coherence and alignments with long-term schoolwide learning goals and a new platform module, Institute Builder, that provides ways for districts to customize their own content and personalize professional learning institutes.

CEO Jeff Colosimo told EER that Eduplanet21 works to make student more successful by helping teachers be more successful, with one challenge being in many districts there is a fragmented approach to curriculum design and professional learning.

“School districts need to have a guaranteed, viable curriculum to be successful,” Colosimo said. “The challenge is do they have the tools, do they have the resources, do they have the time and effort to design that curriculum.”

The Eduplanet21 platform provides educators a path for curriculum design supported by professional leaning. The Understanding by Design methodology, which focuses on teaching and assessing for understanding to enable students to transfer their learning to new situations, underpins the platform template.
